Artist Biography
Mike was born in Gulfport, MS, and has been drawing faces since early childhood. Beginning in the first grade his papers were filled with doodles of silly faces, both of animals and people. Although he still "doodles," he has completed close to 4,000 original, creative faces. "I draw faces; faces are what I draw. It may be silly, but it's what I love to do. Everyone has a special gift unique to them. It is wonderful to find that gift, develop it, and know that you are good at it. Bringing forth something from yourself you have imagined and created is great fun!"
He has a BA in Christian Education from Belhaven College, Jackson, MS, an MDiv. from Reformed Theological Seminary, Jackson, MS, and has completed doctoral studies at Reformed Theological Seminary, Orlando, FL. He served for 20 years as a Chaplain in the US Navy. Mike currently works part-time in the Bahamas. He is a board-certified member of the Association of Professional Chaplains and is ordained in the Presbyterian Church in America. In addition, he is a Third Degree Black Belt in Shorin-Ryu Karate. He is also a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. Mike is married and has two sons.
Mike's art can be purchased on his Web site or at the Golden Pineapple, St. Mary's, Georgia; The Hyatt hotel gift shop, downtown Jacksonville, Florida; and the Tickled Pink Boutique at Mary Mahoney's in Biloxi, Mississippi.
