Artist Statement
"Art is anything you can get away with"
Andy Warhol (1928-1987)
Lisa Roecker-Rush was born in Peoria, Illinois. She relocated to Jacksonville, Florida in August 2007. She has worked as an illustrator, graphic designer, an artist for a screen printer, a muralist, a freelance artist, and a business owner.
From an early age her father taught her how to paint and helped her discover her artistic talent as a child. In high school she erolled in the independent study in art and painted her first few murals. After graduation, she entered into a graphic design program before spending four years in the United States Air Force. While in the military, she painted 10 murals at the military base at which she was stationed. During that time she also worked several different graphic design jobs.
Later, in Illinois, before relocating to Jacksonville, Florida, she began an art, design, and photography company named Rush Modern Art Studios, Inc. (2006). Now, as an independent artist and entrepreneur, she has the opportunity and time to pursue her love of art.
"My art is how I give true freedom to myself. It is the only way I truly express all that I feel. My creative process is very much in the moment and at any given time it just exudes and overflows when inspired."
