Musical Talent
Double Trouble
doubletroublewinds@comcast.net

Double Trouble has hopes of quickly evolving into a global double reed ensemble for a special worldwide performance on Art Day 201? when Channel A first airs/streams eternal music. This will be a performance of an arrangement of Aaron Copland's Fanfare for the Common Man to fit the double reed family instrumentation (the fanfare is originally arranged for brass and percussion). Actually, several arrangements from different composers are welcomed. We will play as many arrangements as possible and all double reed players are invited to join, from intermediate level to professional.
Double Reed Family: Oboe, oboe d'amore, English horn, bass oboe/Heckelphone, bassoon, and contrabassoon. Non-traditional double reed instruments are welcomed but may be used sparingly.
Art Day is the creation of R2001, an arts organization that decided because art is the heart of Earth and because July 2nd is in the heart of the year, that the arts should be celebrated on this day, as the arts are at the heart of our lives. Mark Gebhardt, publisher of iD Arts Magazines, altered the plan so that Art Day falls every other year between the Olympics for an explosion of the arts and the call for a totally organized global arts culture that is prepared to fight for world unity and world peace.
Dewayne Pigg, CEO and Concert Manager of PAD Artists Management in Nashville, TN, will give the tuning concert A to the ensemble and Mr. Pigg is also director of the ensemble. He has successfully directed a double reed ensemble for years and has access to arrangers. It is anticipated that he will form the board of directors (hopefully a dedicated group of directors of currently formed double reed ensembles) to handle many business needs of the global ensemble.
For this to be successful, local chapters of Double Trouble need to be established as active ensembles and linked via computer to all other local Double Trouble chapters/ensembles in real time. Options are being weighed currently. Member dues of $15 USD are in set for greater Jacksonville, FL and recommended globally so equipment can be purchased and fund the formation of a board of directors to enable Double Trouble to become an independent not-for-profit organization. Then grants can be applied for future performances.
The greater Jacksonville, FL area Double Trouble, from Brunswick to Gainesville, is seeking a director, arranger, music rehearsal facility, music stands, recording equipment and software, a networker, sponsors, and of course players. Globally, we need a couple of international sponsors, like Coca-Cola and Walt Disney Corporation, organizations that support the arts. However, individual ensemble costs are currently the responsibility of its players.
We need to form Double Trouble double reed ensembles and chapters everywhere, then worry about linking. Everyone's help is needed to make this a success. Start forming your local Double Trouble chapter/ensemble now and let's pray for music soon. Please befriend and contact us from the Double Trouble Facebook page to join the efforts of a global Double Trouble or contact Mark Gebhardt (oboist, English hornist) at frstrtr@comcast.net.
