Artist Statement
Scott Morris was raised in Hawaii where he studied art and architecture at the University of Hawaii. Over the last 30 years, he has worked for various architectural firms across the country. With 2 grown children, Scott now has the time to pursue his interest in art. For the last 2 years, the media in which he prefers to work is glass and aluminum.
I have experimented over the years with different media to find my passion. I think I have found it creating sculptures with metal and glass, both responding well to different grinding techniques. The changing light and the reflections the piece creates are the foundations of my designs. My sculptures are inspired by visual memories of my life in Hawaii. My goal is to keep the sculpture simple and elegant. I find my work to be relaxing and meditative, which allows me to produce beautiful art.
